And the Most Well-Done Tease Award of 2017 thus far goes straight to Asiahn. During the last days of 2016 she set the word free that we would be getting a new project from her and dropped a series of photos on our IG timelines showing a new less fearful and very sexy side of herself in anticipation. A side that shed Asia Bryant, which you may know her better as, and reintroduced her birth name, Asiahn (ahh-zee-yahn).
That new EP is entitled Love Train and it’s a ride that you’d want to make sure you secured a ticket for.
Executive produced by herself and multi-platinum Grammy Award winning producer Cardiak, Love Train is Asiahn’s heart on record. Life taught her that love has its potholes and she’s popped a couple new tires in them. The three-time Grammy-nominated songwriter shared the lessons she learned with us on the EP’s title-track. Easily my top favorite, “Love Train” showcases what it sounds like when Asiahn lets her voice really push through. And it does know how to push through.
“I could’ve sworn this love shit was easy
Well, that’s what the books say
They don’t tell you when you’re a little girl
It won’t quite work out that way.”
A broken heart often leads people to find ways to numb its pain. For Asiahn, self-medicating with a few drinks next to a couple bad bitches is her remedy she described on “Faded.” A lot of us know that very same prescription was a personal temporary fix on a few occasions.
Love Train also bears other sensual fruit that include “Waiting,” “Role Play,” and “Truth” (which hurt my feelings when I realized it was only an interlude) along with production contributions by Rahki, Bongo, Swiff D, Mando Fresh and Raphael Thomas, Jr.
Asiahn’s new Love Train EP is the beginning of a new leaf for this musical sensei. Ride out and vibe out to her fire new offering.
